InterTonal / Technical field guide

Will an InterTonal neck fit your guitar?

Q15 and Nuclear Fusion Edition are right-handed, 25.5-inch Strat-style bolt-on replacement necks. Both have a 55.6 mm ±0.5 mm heel, 10 mm tuner holes, a headstock-adjustable truss rod and undrilled heel mounting holes. The holes can be aligned and drilled to match the body being fitted. Use this guide to check your guitar’s scale, pocket, bridge and mounting geometry before installation.

01 / Geometry

Scale length comes first

Scale length is the nominal vibrating string length between the nut and bridge saddle. On a standard fretted guitar, the distance from the nut to the 12th fret is half the nominal scale length. Saddle compensation makes the actual string length slightly longer.

Common reference scales include 25.5 inches for Stratocaster/Telecaster styles, 24 inches for traditional Jaguars, and 22.5 inches for Mustang/Duo-Sonic examples; model and year variations exist. A neck scale alone cannot establish a drop-in replacement: the fret positions must align with the bridge’s usable saddle range.

02 / Fitment

Check the pocket shape and dimensions

Some Strat-style heels have rounded ends and some Tele-style pockets have square corners. Warmoth documents that its Strat-shaped neck can fit its Tele-shaped pocket with corner gaps; that example does not establish fit across other manufacturers. Pocket shape alone cannot confirm fit: width, depth, heel seating, mounting alignment and bridge geometry also matter.

InterTonal design note: We supply the heel without pre-drilled mounting holes so the installer can align the neck to the specific body and transfer its hole locations before drilling. Body mounting patterns can differ. Check scale length, pocket, bridge position and alignment before drilling.
03 / Measurements

What to measure before you buy

1. Confirm scale length

With the original neck installed, measure from the nut’s fretboard-facing edge to the center of the 12th fret, then double the result. Approximately 12.75 inches indicates a 25.5-inch scale; 12 inches indicates a 24-inch scale.

2. Inspect the pocket shape

Look at the end of the body pocket closest to the bridge. Is it rounded or square-cornered? Check for unusual contours or modifications.

3. Measure pocket width

Use calipers across the pocket at the heel seating area. InterTonal’s heel specification is 55.6 mm (±0.5 mm). The body pocket must provide appropriate clearance for the actual finished heel—neither a forced fit nor excessive looseness is desirable.

4. Verify the remaining geometry

Check pocket depth, heel thickness, bridge location, neck seating and mounting-hole alignment. Confirm pocket depth and heel thickness for your specific guitar before fitting.

05 / Common questions

Guitar neck compatibility FAQ

Can I put a Strat-style neck on a Telecaster?

Warmoth documents its rounded Strat-shaped neck heel fitting its own square-corner Tele pocket, with gaps at the corners. Check the actual guitar’s scale length, pocket dimensions, bridge location and mounting pattern; that example does not establish fit for other brands or models.

Will an InterTonal neck fit a Jaguar or Mustang?

Both InterTonal necks use a 25.5-inch scale. Traditional Jaguar and Mustang/Duo-Sonic versions commonly use shorter scales, and specifications vary by model and year. Compare your guitar’s scale, pocket and bridge geometry before considering a replacement.

What does a matching 25.5-inch scale tell me?

A matching scale length is one part of fit. Also compare the pocket shape, width and depth, heel position, bridge placement and mounting pattern.

What should I check on my Squier or Strat-style guitar?

Check the instrument’s scale length, pocket geometry and dimensions. Strat-style appearance alone does not confirm fit.
